ADC Crisis Deepens as INEC Denies Issuing Access Code to Nafiu Gombe Faction
The internal crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a fresh turn after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reportedly denied issuing its official portal access code to the faction led by Nafiu Gombe.
According to reports by The Punch and Daily Trust, INEC dismissed claims that it had granted the Gombe-led faction access to the commission’s party management portal, a development that has intensified the battle for control within the opposition party.
The electoral body was quoted as clarifying that it did not authorize or release any access credentials to the faction, amid growing controversy over the party’s leadership and administrative control.
The latest clarification comes as rival camps within the ADC continue to stake claims to the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. The leadership tussle has sparked legal and political debates, with stakeholders calling for due process and adherence to the party’s constitution.
Political observers say INEC’s position could prove significant in determining the legitimacy of actions taken by the competing factions as the crisis continues to unfold.
At the time of filing this report, the Nafiu Gombe faction had yet to publicly respond to INEC’s latest clarification.
The leadership dispute remains one of the biggest challenges facing the ADC, with many party members and political analysts closely watching for the next legal or administrative move.
