Bernie Littman, 100, and Marjorie Fiterman, 102, have set a Guinness World Record as the world’s oldest newlyweds, with a combined age of 202 years. The centenarian couple, who met in a Philadelphia senior living facility, married on May 19, 2024, after a nine-year relationship.
Guinness World Records revealed, “They tied the knot…with their combined ages of 202 years and 271 days,” describing their romance as one that blossomed through shared meals and community events. Their first date coincided with the birth of one of Bernie’s great-granddaughters.
The ceremony, held at their senior living facility, was attended by four generations of Bernie’s family. Guests held a traditional Jewish wedding canopy, or chuppah, as the couple was escorted to the altar in wheelchairs. Officiant Adam Wohlberg told Fox News, “What you know and understand about each other is exactly what the future holds for you and your partner.”
Bernie and Marjorie, both widowed after 60-plus years of marriage to their respective first spouses, credited their connection to humor, intellect, and mutual support, particularly during the pandemic.
Bernie’s granddaughter, Sarah Sicherman, shared on social media, “Today my 100-year-old grandfather married his 102-year-old girlfriend! They keep each other young.” The family expressed joy, calling the marriage a heartwarming surprise.
